Job Summary

The Public Relations (PR) Associate at Power Communications plays a pivotal role in supporting our energy and infrastructure clients through strategic communications and proactive stakeholder engagement. This position blends traditional public relations with on-the-ground community outreach to help advance some of the nation’s most important clean energy and infrastructure projects.

In this role, you’ll manage client relationships, lead elements of stakeholder engagement campaigns, and execute tailored communication strategies that drive awareness, build community trust, and support project development and permitting success. You’ll help craft and distribute compelling content—including press releases, social media posts, media materials, and stakeholder messaging—ensuring all communications align with client goals and reflect Power Communications’ commitment to credibility, collaboration, and impact.

Travel opportunities to client project areas across the country are part of the role (up to ~20%), where you’ll engage directly with community leaders, local officials, and stakeholders to help shape meaningful conversations around energy progress.

Duties & Responsibilities
  • Support PR Account Managers on day-to-day client accounts and serve as a PR contact.
  • Write and distribute press releases, media advisories, and talking points.
  • Develop strategic communication plans around client project development efforts.
  • Create web content, newsletters, and social media posts tailored to project needs.
  • Lead stakeholder engagement planning and execution, including outreach and public meetings.
  • Maintain strong relationships with media outlets and pitch stories to secure coverage.
  • Monitor news and public sentiment, providing reports and analysis to clients.
  • Support crisis communications and urgent media responses as needed.
  • Organize and support events such as press briefings, community forums, and stakeholder roundtables.
  • Ensure message consistency across all platforms and public-facing materials.
  • Travel possible up to 20% of the time.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
Required Skills & Abilities
  • Strong writing, editing, and verbal communication skills.
  • Deep understanding of media relations, PR strategy, and public engagement.
  • Proven ability to manage multiple clients and meet deadlines.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office and social media platforms.
  • Familiarity with media monitoring and content management tools.
  • Ability to build trust with clients, stakeholders, and the public.
  • Comfortable working independently and within a collaborative team environment.
Education & Experience
  • Bachelor’s degree in Public Relations, Communications, Journalism, or a related field.
  • 3–5 years of relevant experience in public relations, communications, or media.
  • Experience working on client accounts and developing content across channels.
  • Background in energy, infrastructure, or government projects is a plus.
Supervisory Responsibilities
  • Supervise freelance writers and external communication vendors.
  • Coordinate with cross-functional teams, including account managers and outreach staff.
Physical Requirements
  • Ability to sit for extended periods and work at a computer.
  • Travel required across assigned regions for client meetings and events.
  • Flexibility to attend occasional evening or weekend engagements.
